Dearest She She Girls!

Aah, January. Finally, a chance to sit down and think about nothing for a while. You've been running around like a fashionista with her head cut off since early November, planning your busy social calendar and all the accompanying gifties, munchies, and perfect outfits with which to grace your hosts, but since no one came through with that fantasy gift last month, you'll have to find other ways to relax.

• Take advantage of the unbelievable sales all around you and get comfortable. Historically the best month for white sales, January is the best time to replace old bath towels and bedding with new luxurious sheets. Next, tuck yourself into this scrumptious soft sweater to keep warm. (Turn down the heat and save your pennies for leather goods.) Wrap-around sunglasses will hide your party-weary peepers from the casual observer while you pick up a gingerbread latte. Reward your skin with a nourishing masque, and pop in some totally chill jazz to relax your hectic social soul. Or watch a great movie with outstanding fashion inspiration (thank you, Michael Kors!) and get fired up for new spring trends:

• Better hop on that new (recurring?) exercise resolution, because your gams are sure going to be on display this year. Between the minidresses and the leggings (under a ruffle layered skirt), you're going to need tanning and toning to the max.
• You can pick up a cute spring coat for a song if you look around; it'll be your go-to topper instead of a cardi.
• Stock your wardrobe with neutrals like blush, camel, and ivory. Also plan to count on black and white. Start with a timeless black ruffle-front stretch poplin shirt, and add ivory flannel trousers now, white linen in May.
• Maximize your wardrobe impact with major accessories. Jewelry or a luxurious bag will upgrade you to style star status.
• Keep your eyes peeled for patent leather.
• Espadrilles are all the rage with this year's skirts and capris.
• Minimalism on the rise: sleek pony tails, subtle details, and futuristic touches abound.
• Finally, your skin should go neutral as well. Facial exfoliator preps your skin for au naturel looks, and lipstick is back--use up that gloss, quick!

And just in case the cold weather isn't your thing (me me me!), keep your eyes peeled for last-minute Caribbean vacation deals online - if your bag's already packed, you can catch a spur-of-the-moment island jaunt that will restore anyone's frost-covered psyche. Send me a postcard!
