Destination Duds
Once again, I'm standing in front of my closet (which has been been purged, thanks to my annual overhaul) debating on what outfits I have that are destination wedding/holiday/vacation-worthy. (Have you ever stared blankly into your closet wondering where in the world you wear all of these clothes?) In T-minus 72 hours, I'll be on a plane (hopefully packed) for a long weekend/destination wedding in Hawaii. I'm going to need something for the weekend kickoff fete by the pool, (the wedding is taken care of because I'm part of the wedding party - at least that's easy!) reception, Sunday brunch, and everything in between to uphold my fashionable image.
I'll arrive in my signature summer travel outfit - cotton dress, flat (i.e. comfy) sandals, scarf - with my denim jacket (who cares that the fashion savants say you're "supposed' to shelve them for a bit?) tucked in my oversized carry-on. At least that's taken care of; now, on to the actual packing.
In My Suitcase :
- A knockout dress that can work both day and night. I'm thinking this for the reception - beachy with the right amount of sophistication.
- I'll be the portrait of chic in this Juicy skirt.
- A feminine top will be perfect paired with a prim skirt for the send-off brunch on Sunday. (Hopefully by then I will have soaked up/applied enough Jergens Natural Glow to pull that color off.
- A fun, casual dress for back and forth from the pool and beach.
- Two bikinis for sunning and a chic maillot for swimming (if I feel so inclined).
- A bright beach blanket. I love Rolle because I can throw my sunscreen, room keys and lip gloss into the pocket and go.
- Tanks, and my latest obsession from J.Crew, vintage tissue T's (for when you want to hide the underarm). I think I'll layer them over each other, throw on a knit black skirt (every girl should have one), add a bold necklace and be ready for some pre-party shopping.
- Shoes. You've got to be ready for anything, so in the duffle are various heels, flats, and multiple pairs of thongs.
- A hat to keep the sun off my face. I'm in love with this cowboy-ish hat and it's been on my head for almost two weeks running. Perfect for cocktails in the sand.
- Not to be forgotten are the accessories - feminine necklaces, long earrings, bracelets - they make the outfit.
I'm practically packed with 68 hours to go. See you when I return - we'll dish on the trip and all of the fall fashions gracing our glossies.
xox,
