Spring Fever
It happens every year - there's a spike in the mercury for about 39 hours and it seems that spring really is here. In direct relation to the rising therm, my closet is plummeting in chicness and is immediately seen as a place where black wool comes to die. Thus during this short-lived May Day I visit all my favorite haunts, AKA boutiques, shoe salons, saks.com (the mecca), Shopbop (online shopping is a must when a portion of this fleeting weather is after the sun sets), and, while we're at it, nail salons. I'm a sucker for a fresh mani when shopping; makes me feel totally professional and put together.

All that running and typing, mixed with my usual combo of lattes and M&M's, typically will lead to a higher body temperature, occassional muscle cramps and oftentimes flushed cheeks. (Excuse me, but the sight of Nanette's Cherry Bomb Dress would color anyone's cheeks.) And while she she me has her SAD deal, I have Spring Fever and I'm not getting over it anytime soon. At least not without the proper elixir, which seems to be a closet of full skirts and wedge heels. In an ever-diligent effort to keep my plastic 'balance-free,' I'm holding off on my major spring push until March (a month can make a difference). To bide my time I'm creating my own version of a buy/keep list and posting it where a workout diagram would normally go. (Will have to consult SSM on this as I'm new to the whole motivational thing.)

Need to buy. . . Can wear again. . .
More full skirts. The bigger the better and ethnic prints are a must. My trusty pencil skirt in gray, white, denim and of course black.
Modern Fit Pants at gap.com. Best buy ever. (Designer Diva gave me the scoop on those babies, saying its important to mix couture w/ mall or something to that effect.) White jeans (if you want). They're part of the nautical and white-on-white trends.
Wedge heels and/or espadrilles. Sassy Flats.
Billowy chiffon or silk top. Colorful polo shirts. (Very chic with a full skirt and huaraches.)
Wooden bangles. Filigree earrings.
Something striped to subtly bring in the nautical trend. Pucci scarves. Because for now I'll have to just pretend I 'resort.'
Paige Premium Denim. (The newest denim line that must find its way into your closet, available at Uniquities, 919.933.4407.) Bermuda shorts. Luckily I splurged on this spring staple last year.

Wow, I feel a little better already. Ciao darlings.
