Battle Bags
Carrying out closet detail for she she
me has reaffirmed two things. The first is that it doesn't
matter how many daydreams of afternoon frolics in the forest you
have, cable knit is simply not cute (or necessary) in every color
or fabric blend. The second, and most important, is that you're
nothing without your handbag. (And up until two days ago, she
she me was not much at all.) Harsh, I know, but face
it: we've all judged a dame by her tote, clutch or satchel. It's
just a fashionista's way and there is no getting past it.
I'm sure I'm
not alone when I say that there was this ONE TIME (and one time
only) when the chicness of my duds was brought down by my shabby,
totally off the mark handbag. It was a painful feeling that I won't
soon forget and I made a promise to myself to always be armed
and ready for battle. I believe that in every girl's arsenal should
be an handsome
but sturdy tote (one each for spring and for fall), a slew of
cocktail purses and chic
clutches, a couple of everyday
shoulder handbags and finally "the
keeper bag" (Lambertson is my personal fave). Now one need
not fuss, I'm not touting labels as the only way, but it's important
to have one great
looking, functional bag. Below are my faves for each occasion
in order of appearance on my running wish list.
To tote around.
1.
Prada's Venetian Tote. I just adore the vacation-themed print
and I've built several outfits around THIS bag.
2. Cole
Haan's Shopper Bag in chic white leather. I've been dying
for a white bag since last spring. (she she me is
convinced it will become vino-splashed, but this is my DAY tote,
not for nights out.)
3. Coach's
Patent Gallery Tote. This yummy green is the perfect color for
spring.
It
don't mean a thing if it ain't got that 'sling.'
1. Marc
Jacobs' Hobo in Honey Dew. His handbags have topped my list
for like the fourth year running. Perfection, perfection, perfection.
2. Anything from Rafe's Spring Collection. Am loving this green
detailed canvas creation.
3. The fantastically embellished Piña
Colada Bag (pictured right, $196.)
by Treesje Handbags.
Cocktails
& Clutches. When more is more.
1.
Valentino's Butterfly Clutch. You'll be the envy of all.
2. Kate
Spade's Puff bag. Who cares what you're wearing with this bag
on your wrist? Love it for its whimsy and its easy elegance.
3.
Banana Republic's embossed lizard clutch. You can never go wrong
with this classic, structured style. Also adore this chic
little bag.
Once you've
covered your handbag needs you'll be ready to do battle with even
the toughest fashion warriors. she she
me looks quite lost with that analogy. Maybe if I put
it in terms of 'calling cards' she would understand. Anyhoo,
until next time. Happy handbag hunting.

One thing a girl simply can never have enough of is handbags.

touch on the multitudes that are necessary for cocktail chicness.
A girl's got to have choices right? If you're beginning the hunt for
your spring bag or bags, you will want to visit both of these chic
