The Look of
Summer Jewels
The hottest
accessory for summer isn't a yummy bag, a pair of sexy sandals or even
a teeny bikini. It's jewelry and you can wear it stacked, layered, and
with everything. A simple, well-placed bejeweled
accessory can complete your entire look. Don't think for a minute
that these are your everyday, run-of-the-mill jewels. Au contraire, these
accessories are bold and artistic
and trés feminine. If you're still hanging on to that chunky
turquoise from last year, it's time to put it to rest, as this season's
baubles are delicate
and slightly more precious.
It's easy to get
caught up in all the size-independent glitter and OD on pieces. Rather
than leave you on your own to pull a 'Liz
Taylor,' I'll give you the skinny on which of the season's
jewels should make their way into your jewelry box.
A cocktail ring.
This less expensive homage to the fashionable dinner ring is a must for
summer and fall. This little piece of finger
candy will do wonders for your mood and add a touch
of glamour to your otherwise 'normal' outfit. If you're in the mood
to hunt, head to a vintage store to find a truly unique
ring. Remember, the bigger the stone, the more it shines.
Big earrings.
Chandelier earrings are even bigger than last year. Remember Nicole Kidman's
at the Oscars? Gone are the days of studs; this season is all about length
and size. Not to worry though, you can get the Red
Carpet look on a she she girl's budget.
Bangles. As
in the 80's
but much more sophisticated.
I personally love to mix textures, sizes, and metals (two-toning is very
'in' right now). To complete your chic look, throw on some gold or bronze
heels.
Easy as can be. Just remember that when it comes to jewelry... diamonds
will always be a girl's best friend, gold makes you look tan, and the
bigger the better (at least this season).
