The
Look: Urban Chic
Contrary
to what you might think, a closet is not complete with only flirty dresses,
prissy skirts, cute flops and the occasional halter or tank. Sure, that
would mean that you had all of the 'girly' occasions and events covered,
but a well-rounded wardrobe needs some 'edge.'
It needs some pieces that blend downtown
with uptown, that are feminine
with a touch of utilitarian, that are glam
and irreverent all at once - that are Urban Chic.
Anyone
who's ever been to a fashion-laden
city knows the look. There are always those girls with the outfits
that are so effortlessly 'thrown' together, yet unmistakably chic and
appropriately glamorous for whatever they're doing that day. Picture couture
with jeans and trainers
for shopping, or cargos with heels and satin
for cocktails. It's as if they've never been stumped for outfit ensembles
or ever suffered from a false sense of cuteness.
For
the rest of us, it's important to go slowly with this city
look. Start with a pair of cargos (they're easy and def. urban). We
recommend cropped - as in knickers.

|

|
- Be feminine
but stay away from girly frills and bows and such. Try a simple
satin
tank. (One

- Don't be
afraid to mix and match. Think Cameron Diaz - Hollywood's master
of this technique.
- Glam it
up with your make-up, jewelry,
heels
(bronze and gold are so in for summer) and a dynamite bag.
Leave the pearls at home and go for a something with a bit more
bite.

The best thing about
this look (aside from the utilitarian aspect, of course) is that you can
feel like a real urbanite. After all, we all may not be lucky enough to
live in an urban mecca, but at least we can look like we do.
