The
Look: Garden Party Prim
'Tis the season for parties, weddings, showers and luncheon.
With so many events to attend, your once well-stocked wardrobe can seem
quite empty. (I know because I've spent many pre-party hours staring blankly
into my closet. Where did all of my clothes go? I know I did some shopping.)
Slews of invites and warm weather signal that it's time to invest in your
Spring cocktail/wedding/date dress. This month's featured look is demure
and polished, classic
and feminine
- call it Garden Party Prim, if you will.
While dress shopping
is fun (what shopping isn't), it can also be a rather daunting task. To
print or not to print, full
skirt vs. A-line, strapless or sleeveless.
. . it's enough to drive you to monochromatic sheaths. I have taken a
personal pledge to prevent as much 'sheathing' as I possibly can, so with
she she me's help I'm once again shoving our faithful (and thankfully
mute) mannequin Alice into dresses
and skirts. This season's party wear is full of sophisticated retro silhouettes
and prints. Think 1950's femme fatale glamour
and sass, but with an innocent touch; Lucy meets Sophia Loren. It's the
look-du-soiree and you've simply got to have it.
