Spring Fever

I don't know if it is the forever persistent rain pounding down, or the ominous gray and dreary skies above, or the fact that aforementioned poopy weather is making it virtually impossible for me to inaugurate my lovely new sundresses and sandals, but I seem to have become a victim of overcompensation. To wit: When one is unable to express oneself through well-overdue seasonal fashion transition, one has a tendency to express oneself through continuous and mindless consumption of foil wrapped chocolate delicacies and animal shaped marshmallow confections. Ergo, one now resembles a bulging sausage in one's new capri's and springy tops. What's a twirty girl to do?

According to Girly, I need to refocus my energies into something positive and worthwhile; something which will benefit me physically as well as psychologically (and with an added bonus or two!) Therefore, I am going to replace chocolate/marshmallow/jelly bean therapy with the equally satisfying (and much more rewarding) retail therapy. Now I know, dearest girls, that you are wondering about that extra poundage currently residing on my belly, hips and thighs (aforementioned sausage effect). Never fear, a solution is well at hand! I will embark on my course of retail therapy through SIS (Size Independent Shopping), which as any twirty girl worth her weight (pun intended!) in gold knows encompasses handbags, accessories, footwear, beauty supplies and makeup, all of which will be stylish and chic regardless of my wearing a size 4 (unfortunately, not since the Bush administration, and I don't mean the current one) or a size 14. In the meantime, with the impending nuptials of a dear friend, and the definite possibility of yet another bridesmaid dress hanging in my closet (always the bridesmaid, never the bride!) I should undertake a fitness regimen designed to trim the tummy, tighten the tushie and whittle the waistline (have the sinking feeling this will require much more than skipping past (not into) my local Krispy Kreme). Anyhoo, such sweaty ponderings earn a well deserved Scarlett, so I'll think about that tomorrow.

Have another small dilemma. My dear and darling friend, Bailey, has hit a bit of a hiccup in her current relationship and has come to me for advice. (I am very good at advice.) And my advice is-econfidant.com. These girls sure know their stuff! Any question, any time, and it's completely confidential! (It's my personal secret weapon for smooth sailing with Seth.)

But I digress. Let's get back to me. Am going to take Girly's advice and shake this Spring Fever. Will grab my trusty parasol and head out into the wet wild world in search of:

Things That Put a Spring in My Step

  • Fun, fun, fun sandals. Posit: if I feel like Helen of Troy, and I dress like Helen of Troy, will I look like Helen of Troy (in the manner of launching 1000 ships)? Well, perhaps just my tootsies.
  • Elegant, dance-til-dawn sandals. Every girl needs a pair, and they are guaranteed to attract attention of the male variety, as well as the envy of your fashionista posse. Also, they have the added benefit of elongating the leg, which counteracts sausage-ness.
  • Chic flats to wear with my new capri's and springy tops (once I am sans sausage-body).
  • Terrific everyday handbag. Rich leather. Great details. Perfect size.
  • Sassy mini bag. Great for date night or girl's night out.
  • Chic, professional tote. Perfect for stashing manuscripts and proposals, as well as all the fun little promo items floating around the office. Best of all, it doesn't look like a sissified briefcase.
  • This season's trendy accessories. Dangling bead and chain necklaces are all the rage, and great for layering. Just don't overdo it! Saw Joan Rivers on The View this week; she had so many chains around her neck she couldn't even sit up straight!
  • Ethnic and hand-crafted jewelry. My current fave is this whimsical little number. Looks great with my new J Crew flips!
  • In continued effort to be on time, I recommend this stylish timepiece-it's gorgeous and it's très She She.
  • Give those winter-weary lips a boost! Just love Neutrogena lip soother. Lightly glossy moisturizer, soothes your lips while giving them a wow punch! In six luscious shades.
  • Fabulous new spring shades for your mani/pedi! Don't forget to give those gorgeous tootsies a little TLC in preparation for their spring sandal debut!
  • Brighten your eyes with great shimmery color.
  • Bronzer! Yes girls, it's a proven fact that your glamorously gorgeous gams will look ever so much more sleek and sexy with a bit of a tan. Make that a safe tan. Oodles of tanners and bronzers to choose from-in fact so many that Girly will cover the entire gamut next week!
  • For a rejuvenating boost, try Jujube Rejuvenist Amino Body Wash by boscia-the ultimate body wash for healthy, younger looking skin. Finish off with a rich, luscious moisturizer, Jujube Rejuvenist Whipped Body Crème, also by boscia.

Well girly girls, that should get you started on the right (and stylishly shod) foot. Happy shopping! Be sure to check out the Chic Shop and the homepage for updates from She She Me!
