Rock the 5 Top Spring Fashion Trends

Whew! What an exciting week we've all had, with the hustle and bustle of Fashion Week in New York, not to mention the Olympics in Vancouver! All I can say is thank heaven for my DVR! I've been able to catch all the excitement in the tents at Bryant Park, then rush back to my hotel and crash on the bed with my remote control and Thai takeout to catch up on the highlights at the many Olympic venues. Seeing Lindsey Vonn with the gold in the Women's Slalom, then watching Shawn White absolutely kill on the halfpipe (what was that last trick he did? The Double Double McChicken with a Twist?) - it doesn't get much better than that! Unless, of course, it's also Fashion Week!

Fashion week is always a thrill. The stars, celebs and fashionisti snagging cabs, juggling lattes and Blackberries, and elbowing their way into the tents, and the occasional fashion emergency as they realize they are wearing a Marc Jacobs coat to a Michael Kors show. I just love being able to see, in advance, exactly what I should be delving into the boutiques for and ordering online so I will be a cutting edge fashionista come fall. My fashion week fave was a toss-up between Derek Lam (very wild, wild west. I adored the crisp clean lines of his collection definitely something there for absolutely every girl as well as an edgy kind of urban western styling) and Michael Kors (from comfortably casual to urban chic to absolutely exquisite, not a single piece in his collection that I wouldn't wish to find in my closet tomorrow morning!)

Another favorite was Diane von Furstenberg - I just love what the lady can do with a frock! (Not to mention this season's new take on style.)This is definitely my go-to LBD for fall!

But enough about fall, we've got spring coming! And with it, all those lovely spring fashions just waiting to be bought. So what are all the fashionable girls going to be scouring the shoppes for this spring? Oh-so-many lovely things darlings! So let's that a little look-see at a few of the must-have trends for Spring 2010.

Ruffles. Well, it can't be spring without something with a bit of girly-girl flair, and what is more feminine than ruffles? This spring you will find the ruffle gracing everything from dresses and skirts to blouses, summer-weight sweaters and even shoes and handbags. A few of my favorites are this ruffled canvas bag from Juicy Couture - the perfect mix of feminine and rugged; these adorable ruffled flip-flops - perfect for an afternoon's stroll on the boardwalk; and this gorgeous rumpled silk dress from J.Crew.

Slightly Oversize White Shirt. This is a trend that makes sense, since it can be worn year after year, so long as you go for quality when purchasing your white shirt. Look for something more classically styled, like a button-down, tuxedo-style or tunic. I like something a little more lightweight, so it's not so bulky when layered. This trend looks great when tucked into a denim skirt or comfy utility skirt and worn with a pair of sleek wedges. It looks equally stylish when work loose over a pair of cropped chinos with a tailored jacket or shrunken blazer, and a pair of strappy platforms.

Flippy Black Skirt. I know what you're thinking: black? for spring? Exactly. Especially when it's a flirty little skirt that can be worn in oh-so-many ways to create so many different looks. Wear it with a white tank or tee and a creamy jacket, then add a pop of color with your footwear, and you are set for work. Or pair it with a silky top and lightweight cardi, then slip into a pair of embossed wedges for a flirty date-night look.

Platform Mary Jane. The rage for spring and summer, so snap up a pair or two while you can. From the ultra-girly styles of Betsey Johnson to something a bit more sleek and sophisticated, all of the designers are on board with this trend. Amy Adams wore this style in her recent movie "Leap Year" and I absolutely fell in love with them. My personal faves: these exquisite black platforms spectators by Christian Louboutin. Classic and timeless. And did I mention exquisite?

Clear Handbags. I am definitely NOT a fan of the see-thru trend. Who wants to have all of their girly items on view for the entire world to see? I think not. It's embarrassing enough when you drop your handbag by the elevator at the office and your tampons and prescription bottles come flying out! I certainly don't want to have it all on view at all times. This spring I am loving this studded black leather hobo by Donna Karan; sturdy but supple leather, gorgeous detailing, and absolutely 100% visually impenetrable!

Well, there you go my darlings! I've done the homework for you, so go forth and shop!

Gold Medal Style
with nuNAAT Karité Special

Once again Shawn White, with his trademark wild and unruly red mane, has rocked the half-pipe for Olympic Gold! Needless to say, I absolutely adore him as the best thing to ever grace a snowboard, but I really think those sun and weather ravaged red locks deserve a little tlc. And at this time of year, most of us could benefit from some fabulous hair care, right?

One of the biggest beauty conundrums that woman face is how to keep frizzy and unruly hair soft, silky and manageable. Women often spend hundreds of dollars and waste hours of time testing the latest styling tools or expensive frizz-defying products, which claim to restore health, sleekness and manageability. A new salon treatment formulated with a popular Brazilian ingredient, Keratin, offers women a different way to manage their frizz, but at a very high cost, and is therefore not suitable for everyone. With this in mind, Brazilian beauty company nuNAAT, developed an affordable new product line, which incorporates similar powerful ingredients found within Brazil’s Amazon Rainforest to restore shine and silkiness and revitalize dry and damaged hair at a fraction of the cost.

The Karité Special, an intensive treatment for restoring dry and damaged hair, is rich in Shea Butter, which revitalizes the hair’s capillary fiber leaving hair soft and silky as well as luxuriously fragranced.
