Top Spring Style Picks!

Love is in the air! At least that's what I assumed, until I realized that it was actually March Madness. In fact, I have come to realize that as long as the there is any type of sporting event, be it basketball, football, baseball, golf, hockey, rugby, even Nascar, until each and every playoff, quarter final, semi final, pre-game show, post-game show and post-game highlight show has occurred, and been sufficiently dissected and relived by my beau and his posse of sports pals, I am going to find myself with a lot of time on my hands!

Which means that at some point my beau is going to owe me big time, and by that I mean a fabulously romantic evening of dinner and dancing. Which also means that I need to get a head start on finding the perfect little dress for said romantic evening! And while I'm at it, a little spring shopping is in order:

Shopping for a Romantic Night on the Town:

  1. Find perfect dress. Think party dress, all flirty and floaty and gorgeous, preferably something that says "dinner at a five star restaurant" not "nachos and bowling". Could be a lovely LBD or perhaps even a gorgeous embellished number, but being a girly girl, I am loving this feminine satin tulip dress. I am also thinking that headlights are a bad look in any dress, so I am also on the lookout for the Bali Concealers bra.
  2. Find perfect footwear to go with said gorgeous dress. Definitely skyscrapers. Definitely sexy. Most likely strappy. Quite possibly sparkly. So many choices! Remember, life is too short to wear sensible shoes!
  3. Next, find perfect little evening bag to accompany dress and shoes. Not too big, the ideal size will hold a lipstick, credit card, compact and cell phone. A shoulder strap bag is nice, especially if you are going dancing, but I just adore a gorgeous clutch. It makes me feel like I'm on the red carpet, plus, it gives me something to do with my hands besides pick at my manicure.
  4. Locate new signature fragrance. I'm thinking something fresh and floral, perhaps even a hint of citrus, but definitely nothing too musky. (I remember my junior high crush once told me that he loved the smell of fresh baked cookies; so I dabbed a little of my mom's vanilla extract—yes, from the spice cabinet—behind my ears. I had flies swarming around my head all afternoon. Not quite the effect I was looking for.)Warm-Weather Fall Fashions: SHOP NOW
  5. Fabulous necklace (love that I can wear it short or long!) and a pair of delicate earrings for very chic effect.

Shopping for Spring Styles:

Since it is still a bit chilly and damp I am not quite ready for seersucker and eyelet. There are, however, many styles that can be worn now, while the weather is still on the brisk side, as well as later, when the sun comes out to play a bit more.

Gatsby Style. This look is one of my favorite from Spring 2012 Fashion Week! I adore the flirty floaty dresses and wide-legged trousers. This updated take on the flapper dress is perfection indeed — so very Daisy Buchanan!

Anorak Dress. One of spring's hottest looks! Very versatile, especially in iffy weather — can be worn with a chic knit scarf, tights and ankle boots while the weather is still brisk, then switch out with sandals and a floppy hat when the weather warms up!

Cropped trousers. You can wear cropped trousers now with stacked heel boots, an oxford cloth button-down shirt paired with a cozy pullover sweater and topped with a tweedy blazer or short trench coat. Very Ivy League. Carry your girly goodies in a school type satchel! Later this spring, pair your crops with a simple gorgeous blouse and chic platform sandals. Add a sassy satchel and an edgy bracelet to complete the ensemble.

Shades of tangerine — spring's hottest color — so now is a good time to snap up a gorgeous blouse or sleek dress in this hot hue.

Goodness, looks to me like I might have a spot of trouble trying to fit all this shopping into just one weekend. Thank goodness for online sites, no? There is nothing quite as satisfying as snapping up the last pair of Manolo's on sale at 2:00 in the morning! Happy Valentine's shopping girls!

Year of the Dragon Manicure by Pure Ice

2012 marks the 4710th Chinese New Year, and this time it is the Year of Dragon according to the Chinese zodiac calendar. The Dragon is the 5th sign of the Chinese zodiac and it is regarded as an auspicious symbol which stands for power, good luck, success, and happiness.

Since ancient times, the Chinese New Year was considered as the time to honor ancestors and heavenly deities. In addition, it was the time to organize family gatherings and grand feasts.

There is a legend associated with the celebration of New Year in China. There was a monster named Nian who used to harass the villagers by eating their crops, cattle and taking away their kids. The villagers had no other option but to place food at the entrance to their homes so that the monster would eat it and go away without harming them.

One day, the villagers realized that the monster was scared of red color. So, they adorned their doors and windows with red paper cutouts and spring scrolls. The villagers also burst crackers to frighten the monster. Since then, Nian never came again to the village. Hongjun Laozu, a Taoist monk, was the one who captured the beast later on. Since then, the Chinese have been celebrating the capture of Nian on their New Year's Day.

Chinese New Year is celebrated with fireworks, lion dancing, dragon dancing and cultural performances on the street. You can celebrate with Pure Ice Crackle Duo Gold & Red (ShowStopper) and ring in the Year of the Dragon in style.
