She She Me's Guilty Pleasures/Obsessions
Okay, I admit it. I am a closet Bachelor addict. I can't help it! Even though season after season it is the same scenario: sometimes harmless, often hopeless and practically always helpless single men being bombarded by long, lean, tanned and taloned extremely predatory females, all after the same thing — the rose. And ultimately of course — the ring. Doesn't it seem a little strange that a guy is supposed to meet a couple dozen complete strangers (albeit completely gorgeous strangers wheeling enormous suitcases filled with fabulously frothy confections!) then in a matter of weeks he must date them all, "get to know" them all, gradually weed them out and ultimately fall in love, (often with more than one of them) and then propose marriage to the "winner"? And all the while the girls are all living together and comparing notes?!? It's like the captain of the football team dating the entire sorority at the same time!! It gives me the shivers just thinking about it! But it does make for entertaining television viewing, no?
And I have to admit that every once in awhile there seems to be a truly genuine experience happening, and that's when it's really fun. Even if some of those truly genuine experiences are scripted!
Anyhoo, interesting factoid: The wedding of former Bachelor Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney will be televised this coming Monday, March 8, and celebrity makeup artist and Mally Beauty founder Mally Roncal (www.mallybeauty.com) worked to develop Molly’s wedding day makeup look and also produce a style for each of her bridesmaids.
With the tsunami warning looming on the West Coast, Mally knew her bulletproof makeup would hold up in inclement weather. “I design high performance products that can stand up to any element from camera lights to a 12-hour work day or even torrential downpour,” said Mally. When a deluge of rain passed through during the ceremony, Mally and her team waited behind the scenes for touch-ups. As Molly and the bridesmaids arrived safely indoors, they were blown away when they realized their make
up didn’t budge – a true testament to Mally’s brand.
To create Molly’s look, Mally used the products below from the Mally Beauty collection.
So now we can all benefit from the Bachelor experience with these great beauty tips. I've been using Mally Beauty products for a couple of years now and I absolutely adore them! My favorite is this great trio of waterproof eyeliners — I adore the Lucky Penny in a rich gorgeous copper color that makes my green eyes positively pop! Check out the great products at Mally girls!
And speaking of weddings (we were speaking of weddings, right?) here are a few tips for wedding shower, ceremony and reception styles for the chic and stylish wedding guest!
What to Wear to a Bridal Shower
Well now girls, this all depends on exactly what type of bridal shower it is. Is it a friends and family type shower where the future mother-in-law, grandmother, aunties and cousins will be attending? If so, think demure and ladylike. A very feminine dress or skirt and top, paired with strappy mid-heel sandals, understated accessories and an sleek handbag are the perfect choice.
Perhaps it is a girls-night-out type of bridal shower, mostly close girlfriends and perhaps held at a restaurant or bistro? A little more edgy style is perfectly appropriate here. A great pair of skinny jeans paired with skyscraper sandals or stiletto boots. Add a flirty top and a sheer lightweight cardi, a great statement necklace and a funky clutch and you are set. Or this amazing copper skirt from J. Crew, paired with a skinny tee or cami and flat gladiators — truly fun!
A weekend brunch of afternoon tea? Something a little more fun and flirty — perhaps a girly sundress paired with patent platforms, statement accessories and a fabulous handbag.
What to Wear to a Wedding Ceremony
Again, it depends on the when and where of the ceremony. If the ceremony is taking place in a church or place of worship, please dress modestly — no bare backs, deep plunging necklines, strapless dresses or mini skirts. You can always wear a dressy sweater or elegant shawl during the ceremony to keep bare shoulders or backs covered. A sheath dress is an excellent and elegant choice, as is a full-skirted cocktail dress. I would go with dressier heels, perhaps a slingback or d'orsay style pump. Opt for understated accessories — pearl studs or delicate hoops are ideal — and an elegant clutch.
For an outdoor or beach wedding, something a little more dressy casual is appropriate. Floaty dresses and skirts, sheer sweaters and silky tops. I would skip the heels altogether and go with an embellished flat sandal or something with a slight wedge sole (no one wants to end up with their heels stuck in the grass or sand, right?). Accessories that echo nature are a great choice here, as is a dressy hat with a brim, to keep those pesky UV rays at bay. Can't find a dressy hat? Drape a silk scarf or ribbon around the brim of your sunhat and you are good to go!
What to Wear to a Wedding Reception
Think more of a party atmosphere. The tough stuff is over, all the pomp and circumstance, and it's time to just relax and have fun. Cocktail dresses are an excellent choice, as is the ubiquitous LBD. Add a pair of great earrings, slip into your favorite dancing shoes, spritz on a light perfume (Daisy by Marc Jacobs is the go-to perfume for spring and summer!) and get ready to dance the night away!
Well darlings, you'll be looking your most stylish and sassy as you dive to catch the bouquet!
