Whew! I have finally realized just why the holidays seem to revolve around food. It's because we need all those extra calories to sustain us during the holiday shopping frenzy! Although Girly keeps trying to convince me that a nice bowl of homemade vegetable soup and an apple will give me the energy to try on and purchase an additional pair of leather boots, a flirty little cocktail dress, a pair of designer jeans and most likely a great handbag as well. Although I beg to differ. In my vast experience as a consumer (of yummy confections) I have found that devouring a hot pretzel and an icy Diet Pepsi will easily give me the stamina to get those boots AND a pair of dressy pumps for work, the gorgeous cocktail dress as well as a new LBD for the office party and a snuggly new cashmere sweater as well. At which time it only makes sense to sit down with a Cinnabon and a hot cocoa (for fashion and budget recon as much as for sustenance of course) before moving right on to the designer jeans and hobo bag. And I have found that the combination of cinnamon and chocolate works in tandem to give me that little added boost to find and acquire a lovely new winter coat, a fabulous weekend bag, and a funky necklace and bracelet combo. I even have enough energy left to take the time to search out a new signature fragrance! So I think I'll stick to my methods of pre-shopping marathon carbo loading thank-you-very-much!

Which is why I have a bowl of Chex Mix, a plate of gingerbread cookies, a mug of hot spiced cider and a bag of Hershey Peppermint Kisses arranged artfully on my desk as I begin my online quest for the perfect holiday gifts for my friends and family.
