Top Valentine's Style Picks!
Love is in the air! At least that's what I assumed, until I realized that it was actually football fever. In fact, I have come to realize that as long as the quarter finals, semi finals, Pre-Super Bowl speculations, Super Bowl morning shows, Actual Super Bowl telecast, Super Bowl Highlights and post-Super Bowl festivities have all occurred and been sufficiently dissected and relived, I may as well just hold off any mention or hint of Valentine's Day, activities surrounding Valentine's Day, gifts hoped and wished for for Valentines Day and just settle for an advance purchase of a box of yummy chocolates to tide me over. But I am getting ahead of myself…
Remember Jack? The oh-so-handsome guy I met when doing my holiday shopping? (I helped him find a bracelet for his sister and then we had a five hour lunch date?) Yes, that Jack. Anyhoo, have had several dates with said hunk since that time and honestly thought things were moving along quite nicely. That is, until Super Bowl fever hit. (Trust me to fall for a guy who is a serious football fan!) Long story short, Jack and his band of die-hard football fanatic friends are headed to Arizona to experience the Super Bowl live and in person, on the 50 yard line (sans females.) Which leaves little ole' She She with the teeniest dilemma—should I spend the weekend curled up on the sofa, relaxing and catching up on chick flicks, or should I get a head start on shopping for fabulous spring fashions, and quite possibly the perfect party dress for a romantic Valentine's dinner? (He is sooooo going to owe me big time for being such a good sport!) Hmmm, relaxing or shopping…relaxing or shopping? As if!
So here's what the weekend has in store for me:
Shopping for Valentine's Day
-
Find perfect Valentine's dress. Think party dress, all flirty and floaty and gorgeous, preferably something that says "dinner at a five star restaurant" not "nachos and bowling". Could be a lovely LBD or perhaps even a shimmery little number, but being a girly girl, I am definitely thinking pink. I am also thinking that headlights are a bad look in any dress, so I am also on the lookout for the Bali Concealers bra. Bye bye headlights darlings!
-
-
Next, find perfect little evening bag to accompany dress and shoes. Not too big, the ideal size will hold a lipstick, credit card, compact and cell phone. A shoulder strap bag is nice, especially if you are going dancing, but I just adore a gorgeous clutch. It makes me feel like I'm on the red carpet, plus, it gives me something to do with my hands besides pick at my manicure.
-
Locate new signature fragrance. I'm thinking something with a delicate floral scent, perhaps even a hint of citrus, but definitely nothing too musky. (I remember my junior high crush once told me that he loved the smell of fresh baked cookies; so I dabbed a little of my mom's vanilla extract—yes, from the spice cabinet—behind my ears. I had flies swarming around my head all afternoon. Not quite the effect I was looking for.)
-
Adorable necklace and absolute perfection for the occasion (and the green will really make my eyes dazzle!) Pair with gorgeously delicate earrings for very chic effect. Added bonus: Enter the code 40ROMANCESHE for an additional 40% off everything on the Coco Cesca site!
Shopping for Spring Styles:
Since it is still very cold and damp I am not quite ready for seersucker and eyelet. There are, however, many styles that can be worn now, while the weather is still on the brisk side, as well as later, when the sun comes out to play a bit more.
Safari Style Dress. The safari style dress is all the rage this spring, but can be worn now with a feminine blouse and paired with a long tweedy coat for a sophisticated look. Finish with opaque tights, pumps and a gorgeous handbag. Come spring, unbutton a few buttons, slip that dress over a skinny tank or cami, add a chunky necklace and finish with gorgeous gold sandals and a funky tote bag.
Cropped trousers. You can wear cropped trousers now with knee high flat boots, an oxford cloth button-down shirt paired with a fisherman's sweater and topped with a tweedy blazer or short trench coat. Very Ivy League. Carry your girly goodies in a school type satchel! Later this spring, pair your crops with a simple gorgeous blouse and edgy platform sandals. Add a sassy satchel and a sizeable rock to complete the ensemble.
Flirty voluminous skirt. Worn now with a sleek leather jacket, tights, ankle boots and a snuggly cashmere scarf. Rehabilitate your style come spring by pairing said skirt with a feminine top and nipping in the waist with a belt. Add a pair of strappy sandals and a sleek little bag and you are good to go!
Wide leg trousers. In particular, navy wide leg trousers. Fabulous for foul weather worn with a form fitting cashmere turtleneck and a gorgeously feminine jacket or blazer. Platform pumps and a patent handbag finish the mix. For spring, switch to a feminine detailed blouse, gorgeous wedge sandals and a nautical little tote.
Goodness, looks to me like I might have a spot of trouble trying to fit all this shopping into just one weekend. Thank goodness for online sites, no? There is nothing quite as satisfying as snapping up the last pair of Manolo's on sale at 2:00 in the morning! Happy Valentine's shopping girls!

C&C California was created by two young women who grew up on the beaches of Southern California during the 1970's.
