Top 10 Trends for Fabulous Spring Style!
I must admit that I was feeling just a wee bit low after my recent False Sense of Cuteness debacle. Don't you just hate it when that happens? Nothing can derail a girl's self esteem quite as quickly as an unflattering glimpse of her reflection in a shop window! (Unless, of course, it is an unflattering glimpse of herself in a swimsuit in a full length shop mirror.) It was nearly as traumatic as the time I walked through Chez Panisse trailing toilet paper from the bottom of my gorgeous new Bettye Muller wedges! Or the time I sashayed down the aisle at the premier of Miss Potter with a giant bucket of popcorn, a box of Red Vines and the skirt of my favorite new sassy sundress tucked neatly into the back of my Hanky Panky's. Hmmm, come to think of it, that was just last weekend…
Anyhoo, have decided (with my usual optimism and aplomb) that glimpse of scary self in shop window was just what I needed to kick start my Spring into Summer Fitness and Fashion Overhaul. Sounds very industrious and efficient, no? And indeed it is! Have taken the bull by the horns (or perhaps the hips by the love handles) and declared certain edible items persona non grata, or rather, commestibile non grata in my abode. That means au reviour In-N-Out, hasta la vista double-cheesy pizza,
auf wiedersehen der weinerschnitzel, ciao all-things-chocolate, and
ka kite 'aka'ou a konei atu Krispy Kreme! I call it my Bye, Bye Miss Boston Creme Pie Lifestyle Change (NEVER say diet!). And until I can drive my Chevy to the levy in a spanking new pair of William Rast jeans, a skinny cami and sky high wedges I will be diligent and faithful to such.
Have even begun new fitness regimen of interval training, which is what all of the fit and fabulous stars are doing these days. Actually, it's more along the lines of interval shopping, but let me tell you girls, it is quite a workout walking from Sak's to Coach to Ralph Lauren to Kate Spade and then on to Neiman's! Toss an armful of fully-loaded shopping bags into the mix and you have yourself a great upper body workout as well. And it is beginning to pay off! Just this morning I was able to zip up my favorite pair of jeans with one smooth flick of the wrist. Yes, dearest girls, I am well on my way to being fit and fabulous! And speaking of such…
She She Me's Top 10 Trends for Fabulous Spring Style:
Rich cobalt blue
. Crisp canary yellow
. Gorgeous emerald green
. Deep fuchsia. Just remember that this bold color is your one spotlight element—don't overdo it with too big or too many accessories, or over-the-top makeup.
Dress it up.
This spring's dresses run the gamut from frothy and flirty
to sleek and sophisticated
. One style that stands out, however, is the sack dress
as in potato. Spring's take on this particular dress is one of style and comfort, yet with a very of-the-moment feel.
The long and short of it. Dressy shorts
are all over the runways and can be found everywhere from Old Navy
. (Gorgeous!) They're more comfortable than short skirts and those in the new, longer lengths are becoming acceptable even for work (check it out in advance however; some offices just haven't warmed to this trend.) Word to the wise: No flip-flops and no sneakers, EVER! Why would you anyway, with all the gorgeous sandals
and platforms out there! Don't forget to keep those gorgeous gams soft and sexy! I love this fabulous body lotion by Dani
, and the scent is fantastic!
. Spring's blouses are frilly and feminine
, flouncy and fun, ruffly, lacy and downright gorgeous
. These girly tops look best when paired with sleek trousers and even better with skinny jeans. No need for bling, it would only detract.
Girly girl flats .
Comfortable yet very, very stylish. It's all in the details, girls. Satin
, brocade, patent
and lace. Buckles,
bows, ruffles and ruching. A chic pair of flats can add the perfect touch to your spring ensemble.
Never underestimate the appeal of a heel
. Nothing makes me feel quite as girly as a great pair of skyscrapers. This season offers a plethora of possibilities; from wooden platforms and cork wedges
, to very trendy lucite and the ever popular patent peeptoe
. Springs hottest hue? Yellow
I think I've died and gone to handbag heaven
! There is definitely something for everyone this season. Sleek shoulder bags, roomy satchels
, bright patent leather pieces and sporty carryalls
; you'll want one of everything!
I know, I said top ten, but I just got this gorgeous necklace
and had to show it off. So versatile! Can be worn long, doubled for a long/short combo, worn as a belt
or even wrapped around the wrist as a bracelet! This is one of those items that you should probably buy as a gift for all your closest girlfriends, because they will be forever trying to borrow yours!
