A Season of Change
Although the world's calendar says we have a bit more to go until the seasons change, my clock says fall is here. Thus, it's time to make some changes. In my world where there's always a new body to achieve, a new look to try and a new career to launch, any excuse to start fresh is welcome. As such, I'm all about a new season.

It seems I'm not the only one. I do believe that our dear morning reporter fave, Katie Couric, is channeling Jenn Pitt in the stick-straight hair years this fall. Seriously, she's working the whole look right down to the perpetual tan. Additionally, I hear from fashion sources on high that purple is the new pink. Shocking!

But enough of other people, let's talk about me and the great new ways I'm changing.

  • From this day forward, I am going to be a very healthy person. I will love (and yearn for) brisk walks in the morning with sweet Cross. He looks so cute in his new fall collar. It's a shame not to show it off. After said walks, we will sit with perfect posture sipping coffee and eating cantaloup while watching KC channel JP.
  • This fall, I'm also becoming a vastly improved civil servant (CS). All this political talk has really got me going. Shop Girl is already CS Extraordinaire. She's way into campaign volunteering, and I think the competitive energy has been very good for her complexion. Practically rosy without any blush, she's a glossicon-and-go girl now. Amazing what civil service will do.
  • With the stifling hot hair destruction days in the past, I'm taking up tennis. Venus Williams' Reebok tennis dresses (by Diane Von Furstenberg) at the US Open were absolutely darling and I'm dying for an excuse to have one. Plus, mature CSs usually know lots of people around town and my to-be-made tennis click will surely help in that arena. Right now, I only have my Shop Girl click and the coffee shop click. (The latter really isn't a click. It's just me and the too-cool-to-smile Indie girl who serves and intimidates me.)
  • From hence forward, I'm all about matching undies. Seriously, what if my house burned down while I was getting dressed? My neighbors would be appalled to see me standing in the street in granny panties and a ratty cotton bra. I'll be channeling respectable sex kitten from now on.
  • I'm not wearing ugly clothes or unfashionable shoes anymore just because they're comfy. As Shop Girl says, "Comfortable shoes are usually ugly, unless they are very expensive." And right she is. I must channel SJP and work my way through the pain. Or spend beyond my budget. Oh, twist my arm. PS Love these comfortable-but-not-too-expensive ones.
  • In an effort to stay en vogue, I will find, purchase and wear a poncho this fall. I will get over my anxiety of looking like a Mexican vagabond and will channel magazine-chicicon. (Don't laugh when you see me out. Am already nervous about what the coffee shop Indie girl will say when I appear for a Latté looking like I'm draped for a hair cut.)

Alrighty then. That should do us for now. I've gotta hop. Much changing to do.
