New Me in a New Bikini
My birthday is totally sneaking up on me. It does this every year! Luckily, Hubby is getting way better at surprising me with fab gifts! If I wanted to, I could sift through his email and figure out what he ordered me from Amazon.com (it's not my fault it shows up on the bank statement), but I'm being extra un-snoopy this year. So unlike me.
My upcoming b-day has reminded me that I'm growing further into my twirties, and so I've decided to actually set some New Year Resolutions. At first I thought it would be great if I had a list of 2009 things I want to do this year, but decided it was ridiculous when I got stuck at 24. So then I thought maybe I would do something memorable for every day of the year. Yeah, that's just not going to happen. I can hardly remember last Tuesday, and I’m really trying. I think I was tired that day.
Eventually I decided to set seven goals (I took 2009 and subtracted the 2 from the 9; I make no sense, I know). Here's what I came up with:
7. Best Foot Forward. As in “always wear fab shoes.” With the economy in the state it is, I’ve decided to buy versatile shoes to work with many outfits, such as a timeless pump in black (and I don't think I can possibly resist these in red — love the cut-outs!), chic sandals, comfy flats and extra comfy now-I-match-Scarlett TOMS. I will also use my PedEgg regularly. No point in buying cute sandals if my feet are ugly.
6. Age Backwards. I’m noticing little wrinkles around my eyes and some smile lines coming into play. To slow (and hopefully somewhat-reverse) these lines, I’ve added RoC Retinol Correxion Deep Wrinkle into my morning and evening routine. Another new discovery of mine is Wei East White Lotus Defining Moment Serum, which I adore because it seals in moisture and provides a smooth, even surface for makeup. It also has anti-oxidants and anti-aging properties, which every girl needs, twirty or not! Of course I always top off with sunscreen, if it isn’t already built into the product. And as always, moisturize faithfully (with SPF even better!)
5. Smile More. I’m a smiley person — hence the aforementioned smile lines — but I’m going to try to smile more, even when I’m hungry or tired. It really does make me feel happier! It also helps to show off my freshly whitened teeth and the new Tarte glosses my sis sent me for Christmas.
4. Always Accessorize. Every fashionista knows that clothes are just clothes until you accessorize — then you have an ensemble. Also, accessories are the most budget-friendly way to boost your wardrobe potential. Which is where B.Dazzled Jewels comes to my rescue. In fact, I've "accidentally" left a screen shot of this gorgeous necklace on hubby's computer as a little b-day hint. (Hey, I may be trying to be less snoopy but I'm not taking any chances!)
3. Stay Organized. This involves a handbag with plenty of space to organize all my necessities, but not that thing from the infomercial that looks like the progeny of a men’s kit bag and a fanny pack. I’m thinking something more along the lines of this. And thank you, Jessica.
2. Keep In Touch. I missed the mark for sending out holiday cards to family and friends, so I’m going to send them out for Valentine’s Day. I’m will reply to emails swiftly. I will make phone calls more regularly. I will use my new stationary (so eco-friendly!) and I will send birthday cards/gifts and fun thank-you notes in a timely manner.
1.Bikinize Myself. This kind of goes along with #6. Bikini season is just around the corner and I found the most fab Juicy bikini that I so desperately want to look good in. I’m continuing the yoga I started last March, have added a Slim-Fast to my morning agenda (Hubby totally tries to suck the last drops from the can when he thinks I’m not looking) and am researching brilliant new sunless tanning options. And, just to be prepared, I have snapped up this darling little bikini bag — to keep my summer tote from getting damp.
So that’s what I’ve got. What are you doing this year? Probably going to Hawaii. If you need someone to come along, I’d be willing to sacrifice my time. I’m just saying. I’ll buy you a bikini.
xoxo
