Spring Trends: Romantic Futurism Meets Spring 2007

Spring trends are always true to their season. Back in full swing are pastel blues (with the occasional rich cobalt), muted greens, punchy, coral pinks and eye-popping purples; all things happy and bright to fully eliminate winter blahs. Speaking of bright, enter the metallic eye trend. Soft sheens to full-on heavy metals highlight eyes in a somewhat alien nature. Something about the trend's almost space-age air is absolutely stunning. They're calling it romantic futurism. Something of a 20's meets 70's meets tomorrow recipe, no?

Trends to jump on this spring season:

Apparel (a super short overview):

Makeup:

  • The aforementioned metallic eye craze is the first on the list, having been all the rage on the catwalk as of late. Seems that no one is being picky about shades or hues—so long as it resembles some type of shiny metal.
  • Soft, healthy skin all over. Natch. Orly's Rich Renewal is fabulous and smells great. Ultra springy.
  • Gold lips are all the rage. As are peachy and hot pink lips. So many colors; only two lipL'Occitanes. What's a girl to do? Stuff them all into her squishy, ultra-stuffable bag I suppose. Or better yet, snatch up the entire collection of stylish bags in one fabulous tote set! I am absolutely in love with these gorgeous pink bags.
  • Coral, peachy cheeks are taking a stand.

Accessories & Shoes:

  • Lucite is coming out in droves. Literally. Get your hands on the chunkiest Lucite necklace you can find. You may want to get a neck brace as well. This trend has made its way into the jewelry, hairpiece and shoe worlds so it shouldn't be difficult to come by. Hailing from 1928, this acrylic comeback is spot on the romantic futurism theme. And there you have your history du jour!
  • Handbags are all over the place—from mixed patterns to clear vinyl to total hotchpotch.
  • Gladiator shoes come in short and tall this time around.
  • Snazzy sneaks. The days of the old lace-up canvas sneaker are long gone dear ones! Today's fitness footwear is high tech and high style. Love the new girly styles!

Scents for Her:

  • Nanette Lepore's Lovebird. This is a musky, yet citrus-kissed fragrance. Admittedly, I love Nanette Lepore so this was bound to end up on the list. Her Lovebird is limited edition and comes in the cutest little vintagesque bottle.
  • Juicy Couture Eau de Parfum. Very flirty and fun. Notes of melon and apple, wild rose and princess lily with a kick of vanilla and patchouli.
  • Ralph Lauren's Ralph Rocks stands up to it's precursors (Ralph, Ralph Cool and Ralph Hot). They say it's inspired by the rebel in all of us.
  • DKNY Be Delicious. Granny Smith Apple base in a fun, bright green apple-shaped bottle.
  • Rock ‘n Rose Valentino. The fragrance is created as a perfect balance between edgy modernity and Valentino's elegance and tradition.
  • Stella McCartney's Stella. A fragrance based on the contrast between the freshness and softness of the rose, and the dark sensuality of amber, Stella is a sophisticated scent focused on an intense sense of femininity. Am completely in love with this scent.
  • Crabtree & Evelyn Found—sweet and springy; a warm heart of cassis, bay rose and cardamom is lightened with pink grapefruit and sweetened with caramel and spun sugar.

Scents for Him:

  • Escada's Sunset Heat. Sunset at the beach is a magical moment, where two worlds join and unexpected things happen. Sunset Heat captures this moment with a sexy, woody water fragrance.
  • Acca Kappa White Moss Eau de Cologne. Imported from Italy and made with the essential oils of lavender and juniper. This fabulous scent is very subtle yet masculine and lingers throughout the day.
  • RSVP by Kenneth Cole—a bit of an aftershave touch to it. A sophisticated masculine scent blends lavender and orchid with sandalwood and cedarwood.
  • Lacoste Essential—very fresh. More of a younger man's fragrance, but older men with young spirits could certainly pull it off.
  • Guess Man. Masculine, bold, sexy, and simply intoxicating, this fragrance is fresh, clean, and sensual. Attititude like never before in a bottle.

Well girls, I'd say it's time to spring into action and get started on those spring trends! Happy shopping sweeties!

Xoxo
